Sorry to hear that Akasha.
In time the female should come to accept his passing, will probably be OK on her own, and would probably accept a new male, provided you select one of suitable size and temperament.

Re: swollen male angel
the female has gone a bit jumpy and nervous. I had to put food right in front of her face to tempt her to eat tonight. I am a bit concerned that the stress of losing her mate could send her down the same path. She stayed next to him as he passed so she know's he's gone. I refused to take him away without her knowledge or when her back was turned. I learned from my curviceps cichlids what can happen - female curviceps jumped from the tank and died when I wasn't around and the male spent every day for more than a year, until he died too, looking for her.
My plan now would be to see how she goes. I can't have another angelfish. That's 3 now that I've lost to Hexamita. I can't go through this again.
I've spent the day randomly bursting into tears. I care about my animals and I get so upset when the worst happens. If a fish is old and ailing I can handle their death but my angel was young and I'm struggling with that. I buried him in my garden today and covered the spot in stones so the cats can't dig him up.

So sorry to hear that Akasha, it's so sad to lose any pet, my wife and I were also really sad to lose Feng and now we're worried about Shui. I really hope your remaining angel is OK and copes well alone.

Re: swollen male angel
Hi Pete, she is coming around and she is eating a little, although not every day. Saturday is bloodworm day so I've no doubt she'll fill her face with bloodworms tonight.
She's getting a bit more confident now. She was jumpy for days but this morning she came to the front of the glass when I went to check on them all so hopefully this is all good signs that she's going to be ok on her own.
I have a promise of help from my lfs to re-home her if that changes.
