My Pearlscale Male

Thought some of you might like to see my male pearl koi

you managed to capture the pearlscale beautifully in that second shot...

Just a minor point, but that's a gold marble rather than a koi, a koi being a blushing gold marble, with koi you don't, usually, see any striations (horizontal stripes) in the dorsal fin, also the skin tone is different, koi have a more matte appearence with irridescent patches.

This is a pearlscale koi for comparison.

you can see that some areas of the skin are highly reflective (eg just behind the gill cover) and other areas are much less so.

Thanks for the clarification Rob, I wasn't aware of the lack of striations in the dorsal for Koi or the blushing element. I'm hoping to pair him with your blue female next.

I've got a feeling that that female has a pearlscale gene, so you should get 50% pearlscales from the batch

He's a handsome boy. Nice marbling on him.
