Approximate volume required
Hi i have just ordered myself a new tank as a display tank & was hopeing someone could tell me how to work out the approximate volume of water it would hold & can anyone recomend an external filter for it? The size in inches is 66" x 18" x 30" any help would be great.

Re: Approximate volume required
There are 6.25 gallons per cubic foot
so 5 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 = 20.625 cubic feet = 128.9 gallons
1 gallon = 4.545 litres = 585.9 litres
So the aquarium calculator is correct, although those calculation don't allow for the thickness of the glass, the gravel & rocks on the bottom, and assumes you've got it full to the brim.
It's often suggested that you allow 10-15% of the theoretical volume for these factors...
586 litres - 15% = 498 litres which is what TAF II suggests
