need help with angelfish breeding
hiya just wondered if anyone could help me please.
i am new to breeding angelfish and have read quite a bit about them so i purchased 2 golden proven breeding pairs 3 days ago from ebay they are in a 3ft tank all get along fine in the same tank and i was told to divide the tank once they started cleaning the cone one pair seems to be cleaning it alot more than the other pair so i have divided the tank they have a spawning cone and p.v.c pipe and a leaf attached to the side of the tank for them to lay on and the pair was cleaning the leaf for around 5 hours last night and they still keep going back now and cleaning it and there breeding tubes are showing my ph is around 7.4 and temp is 28.c are they going to breed ?? any help appreciated thanks

Re: need help with angelfish breeding
Hi & a big warm welcome to the forum
Very nice Golds I must say, welldone on getting them
Your setup is perfect & yes it looks like they will be laying soon, give them plenty of quality food, live food is even better to help build them up for laying. Small daily water changes with cool water should trigger them to spawn for you.
good luck, Lisa

Re: need help with angelfish breeding
hiya just wondered if anyone could help my angelfish spawned yesterday on a leaf i put in there tank but for some reason the eggs didnt stick very well so every time they fanned the eggs a few fell off there isnt many left now so i have scooped around 30 into a breeding trap to see if i can hatch them myself and left about 20 on the leaf they are still fanning whats left and i have removed all the gravel from around the leaf will they respawn ? and how often do angelfish pairs lay eggs thanks

Well done on the spawning , young pairs need some practice before they get things right.
When there are no fry present then Angels can lay as often as 11 days later as long as water quality & feed in good.
As to the eggs you have in the trap, you will need an air line running close to the eggs to mimic the parents fanning them to keep water running across the eggs or else the eggs will fungus over & die.
