After reading Sams thread jimmy (jimmyjahooha) said i should start a new topic on the subject of albino cross breeding so here i go,
I stated with titainium blue male (john whormby strain) and my own black marble female then crossed one of there young = blue black marble with a platinum blue got alot of green / blue in there young then it got exciting i crossed
a veil red eyed albino male with double blue marble female got some young veil tailed blue / black marbled and i am
now crossing them with with red eyed albino,s hoping to get the red eye in the blue / black marbled veils Very Happy
fingers crossed this pair do not eat the young as i have found red eyed albinos quite bad parents.
Cheers Tony

Sounds like a nice little project Tony i will keep my fingers crossed for you as is would be nice to see the blue marbles with blue eyes.
Its funny you should say that when you crossed a (whamby Blue) with a blak marble you got young with a green & blue
because i have a pair of Smokey Ghosts bred by Helen that were from a (Whamby pinoy) & a pb silver that are green with a nice blue where you would just expect blue.I did send Lisa a couple of pics a couple of months ago now as for some reason i cant get the hang of posting pics on here but they would be nice to see if you have any pics but perhaps in yet another topic.

Breeding Somthing Different Empty Red eyed

Post  TONY,S ANGELS Sat 18 Aug 2012, 19:02

Hi Paul
I think i will stick with trying to get a red eyed blue marble first, as that seems easyer than trying the blue eyed blue.
I did try putting some ( pics ) on but i to am not to good with a pc.
when i get a bit more time will try loading some pics of the pairs that i am trying.
Cheers Tony

Several of his siblings have red eyes too, but none with quite the intensity of this one.

Hi Pterophyllum
Very nice fish and great pics again, yours and my marbles both have a lot of blue in them and that fish has got
very red eyes, but i am trying to breed albino red eyes into my double blue black marble just to see if it can be done
I love the solid red eyes in my albinos and would love a marble with the same eyes, you are well up on the genetics
of angels would you now if it is possible. I have lots of pics of the 4 pairs i am trying this project with but can not get
them to load on here for some reason. would love to show that i am no david bailey with a camera Laughing
And if I get red eyes i will then try to get electric blue eyes for paul Laughing

The thing to appreciate about albino is that it doesn't add colour, it, in effect, takes it away....

Albino prevents the fish from producing melanin, a black pigment, without the black pigment which is otherwise present in the eyes, the eyes look red. This is because of the blood vessels and the blood they contain. In a non albino, the melanin masks the red.

So, whilst it's possible to select fish that have redder eyes, and hopefully over time and many generations, you might well produce fish with redder eyes than average. It's unlikely that you will produce a fish that is essentially an albino only in the eyes!

That said, you might find that fish that are heterozygous for albino (i.e. not albinos, but with one copy of the albino gene) have redder eyes than those that don't. There again you might not, I don't know if anyone has looked at this.

As to photos, check that they're not too large, if they are resize them before uploading. Or you could try uploading them to photo bucket and linking to them from there.
