Posting Angels
I may need to post 6-10 2" bodysize angels. I need some help as I have never done this before.
What size and how many bags? What's the best way to package them etc?
Thanks in anticipation of any advice.

Thanks Kim. I know Ghipsi also posts fish. I'll wait for replies to this thread, and failing that, i'll send a pm to members.

Re: Posting Angels
Hi,i post quite a few fish out aswell as Angels. With Angels i make sure there is enough water to cover the fin height but also make sure there is more air than water in the bags usually about a third water rest air bag buddies and then double bag them inserting the first bag in the second upside down which will eliminate any corners for the fish to become trapped in. Then they are placed in a poly box or cardboard box lined with polystyrene lined with newspaper then i place a heatpack on the bottom with a few scrunched up pieces newspaper to stop the heat pack being to close to the bags and it allows air to circulate. Then i wrap the fish bags in a sheet of newspaper place in the box and fill the excess with scrunched up newspaper. Tape the box up mark the box this way up and fragile and post royal mail special delivery before 1pm. You will get upto 1kg for £7.00 and upto 2kg £9.05 not sure on what the price is over this but would imagine its near the £20+ mark for upto 10 kg i think but not sure. I have always posted fish like this and have a very high success rate. Hope this helps.

Re: Posting Angels
Thanks Ian. That's very helpful info. I have 20.5 cm x 47.5 cm bags. Would 3-5 angels of upto 2" bodysize be ok in each bag?

Re: Posting Angels
Ok, here is the posting method that I use, but I still chew my nails waiting for the email to say they have arrived safely
48hrs before they are to be posted I do an extra large water change & stop feeding them (they need starving for 24 to 48 hrs).
I usualy do anouther water change the day before they are posted to make sure the water is spot on
For posting you will need: Poly Box, Bags, Bag Buddies, Meth Blue, Heat pack, measuring Jug & some news paper or bubble wrap
May a final check over the fish to be sent to check they are all healthy & defect free (they should be begging for food & ready to jump into your net )
Fill a bucket with 50% clean declorionated water at your tank temperature & 50% tank water, put 2 or 3 Drops (possably more if a large amount of water, you want the water Blue but you still want to be able to easily see the fish )
To be continued......

Re: Posting Angels
Ok, work out what weight of water you will be using as this matters as to what postal service you are using:
1ltr of water weighs 1kg therefore you need to work out the weight of the box, heat pack etc so you can see how much water you can use:
Special Delivery in theory will only accept Fish Fry, but most people use that service anyway as they seem to look after the parcels well.
Parcel force are the same.
Delsol are a curriors that will ship fish, but I won't use them anymore
So lets say we are using Special Delivery with a 2kg upper limit to keep the cost low (they will take 10kg for £20 somthing £)
Ok so we have 1.5kg of water to play with = 1500ml
Lets say you are sending 2 bags with 750ml of your prepared Blue water in each bag, add a quarter to a half of a bag buddie to the bag, tie a good know making sure the bag has at least 2/3 of air in it (the bag buddie will add oxygen & sedate the fish etc)
Turn the bag upside down & put anouther bag over it. Wrap with News paper or Bubble wrap and put in box, tape box well & mark Fragile Live Fish Fry! (some one was prosocuted for animal cruelty lately for not labeling a box correctly)

Re: Posting Angels
Thanks for putting me out of my misery and finishing your post. Is meth blue necessary? Where would I get some?

Re: Posting Angels
Meth blue is very important as far as I am concerned as it helps the fish to utilise the oxygen more eficiantly, I have found it does make a difference, you can get some from a fish shop or easily online.

Re: Posting Angels
Okay, I've recieved heat packs from Lisa (thanks Lisa, you're a treasure). I've now got everything I need to post my het pb ghosts. I reckon the biggest is 1 1/2" bodysize. I'm going to be using 3/4l of water for three fish in each bag. I'm adding some pics. Opinions please on if this is enough water. Thanks in advance.

Re: Posting Angels
Always a difficult question, but as long as you have starved them & have at least 2/3rds again of air in the bag (not blown in from a person) and the bag buddies/meth blue then they should be ok, anyone else?
