Hello everyone.I have two pairs of beautiful angels, and i just started to raising little angels just for hobby.I have a problem they are about a week free swimming. And they dying several each day.Aquarium is about 25 L,27 deggres, with bare bottom.Sponge filter.I feed them with some high protein food,im hatching artemia right now but never feed them with artemia, tomorow i will try artemia too.Im using eyedroper every day cleaning leftovers.About 30-50 % water changes every day, water is from the tap,not cold to not shock the fish.Low light.I dont know what else to tell about aquarium. If anyone know what can cause dying please give me some advice.Thx in advance.

have you tested the water for ammonia and nitrite? This would be the first thing I'd check

if something isn't right in my tank testing the water is the first thing I do. The best test kits are the liquid drop type. Dip strips can be really inaccurate.

If the water is clear of ammonia and nitrite I'd consider that they arn't getting enough to eat. Fry need to be fed 3 times a day really.
I've not bred my angels yet so I'm basing this on my dwarf cichlids that I did successfully breed and I found that there are always some that don't make it no matter what you do.

The only other thing is are you dechlorinating the fresh water? and how are you adding it back? With Fry I use a piece of airline tubing - I put my bucket of clean water above the tank, add a plant weight to the end of the tubing so it stays in the bucket then use a syringe to get the syphon going and allow the airline tubing to gently trickle the fresh water down the side of the glass. Doing it any other way created too much of a current for the tiny babies to deal with and it did kill them.

Check your water.
You say straight from the tap. That could be dangerous if not treated. Are you also using a water safe. I used prime and found it were good.
I also hatched my own brine shrimp too. And that's a god send.

Im sorry Wildreddeer what do u mean ''water safe''?And to thx you Akasha,it's been about week ago from since your advise. And now when i cleaning and changing water i see maybe 1 or two dead instead 10-15.They still dying but in very smaler numbers. And i have one more thing,it's maybe stupid question but i can't hatch brine shrimp i don't know why. When i turn of air and take a good look i see only few them hatched?I will describe what and how i doing.1l water from tap put in my aquarium because i have constantly 27 degrees. Now i put 3 tea spoons of salt, and 1 spoon of artemia, and i put good air.I have maybe 50w light in that aquarium. After 48 h results are just few hatched.

what Wildreddeer means by water safe is dechlorinator that removes chlorine and heavy metals from tap water

And I'm pleased to hear that the deaths have slowed down Smile

If you mean Reverse osmosis no i use directly from the tap.I know RO is good for everything, every kind of fish especially for fry.But unfortunately i do not have RO.So maybe its hard water then i thing its about 8 maybe even more?I i said im just hobbyst im not doing that for money.I only use some kind of fungicide while they still eggs, and that is all.

No, we don't mean RO - that is a completely different product. What we mean is a product such as Seacham Prime, Tetra Aqua Safe or API Water Conditioner - just to name the most popular products. There are several products such as these that make your tap water safe for your fish.
All tap water contains Chlorine, and certain metals that make it safe for us to drink but those things make it unsafe for your aquarium. Chlorine will kill the good bacteria in your filters which will mean you will have ammonia and nitrite within the tank which will kill your fish.
If you are not using a tap water dechlorinator (such as those mentioned above) this will be the reason your fish are dying

Sorry for the delay.

Depending on what part of the country you live it depends on the purity of your water.

Ideally you could do with 25% water change on a daily basis. But not everyone is in a position to do that.

Allow the tap to run for a little while first. You can also buy special preparatory products from your local pet shop or aquarium to reduce any metals. Tap water contains very small amounts of chlorine that we use to remove harmful bacteria. Although chlorine is completely safe for us, it can be very dangerous to fish.

Seacham Prime, Tetra Aqua Safe or API Water Conditioner, are what most people use.

Take a look at this web page, www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/Prime.

Another important factor is to make sure you have no chemicals or creams on your hands and arms whilst cleaning the fish out.
And make sure you rise all the scented soap of your hands/arms after washing. It might seam silly but believe you me, it's not. I learnt the hard way.

Best of luck,

Phil
