Question on feeding
Just wanted to start this new topic... What is your preference on feeding and how often for Angels and discus? My food is from Angel plus and I give them high protein growth flake 3-4 times a day for growing on my young angels. It has 55% protein, I also feed my larger angels the same with 3 diffenernt feeds, a good quality flake with vitamins, beefheart and finely chopped mussels with the dead fingers removed. I'd be interested to hear your views on the different methods and theories you use as when using finely chopped mussels, watch your fingers as the fish will nip your fingers instead of the food!
Re: Question on feeding
I feed my adults and juveniles on bog standard flake, bloodworms, tetra prima, ocassional tubifex and daphnia. The new babies get bbs of course, followed by crushed flake and tetra prima at 6 weeks.
Do you find the Angel Plus food improves the babies' health and growth rate? I am interested to know, as they are always raving about it on Angelfish.net.

Re: Question on feeding
To answer, definitely the high pro-growth flake makes a big difference. As soon as I can get them off bbs the better as if you do not add spirulina powder to your artemia to enrich it there is very little nourishment in bbs on their own. Blood worm, I never give to any of my fish, discus or angels. As I had a bad experience with it as not all eggs are killed with gamma rays same goes for tubaflex. There is very little nutrients in blood worm for all the fish love it. Try the mussells finely chopped up, feed to 20p size fish. Watch them grow.
Re: Question on feeding
Thanks Karl. I will take your comments on board. I will look into feeding mussels and Angel Plus food.
