New batch of young
Just a few pictures of one of my new spawns.
These are from a pair the grandparents of which are supossed to be Ken Kennedy strain. They certainly are developing nicely . Both parents are Smokey pearlscale wifi but i have what appear to be 20% Platinum in the brood as well.
They also gave me some albinos , but none servived unfortunatley. And i have since lost the female.
Thanks dave

The female looks very much like my pb zebra of kens lines & she also has a good wifi & as i havnt raised any from her it will be good to see if there are any hidden genes the male leopard i have which i think may be her sibling also has great finnage like the female so if that is the case there should be some good looking young like yours. Thanks for the pic dave

Looking good Dave, my favourite is the last one.
One thing I think you may notice as the babies grow is that about 1/3rd of the blues will have much deeper, darker colouration than either of the parents, those will be the ones without a gold gene.

Re: New batch of young
Observation! How do you know that. ???
My first blues came from Ken Kennedy, because I didn't simply want to breed Ken's fish to themselves, I mated them with fish that I had that already had the Philippine blue (pb) gene. These were all either platinums or golds with one pb gene, each pairing produced some platinums, so the Ken Kennedy fish also carried a gold gene, these were all of the pastel blue type, since one parent was a gold or platinum, all their blue offspring also had a gold gene, and all were pastel blues, like this one....
Mating these blues together, should produce 25% platinums (with 2 gold genes), 50% blues with a single gold gene and 25% without a gold gene. When I started these blue x blue matings I got some much darker offspring, like this one....
My guess was that these were the fish without gold genes, and so far, every one I've tested (not many, so not conclusive proof yet!) has proven to be free of gold genes.
So if you want dark fish like my second photo, my advice is breed two dark ones together, if you want the more pastel blues, breed a dark to platinum, if you want a mixture of the two, breed a dark to a light, and if you want a mixture of all three, dark, light and platinum, breed two pastels together.
