white lips

hey all my mother in law recently brought a male/female pair of pure black angel fish to start breeding them but they have been cleaning and got breeding pipes out etc but one of the pair .... well its lips/mouth has gone white ... like pure white .... theres no fungus or anything like that as i have checked myself and ive never seen anything like it

Sounds to me like they have been 'lip locking', I have noticed the same when a new pair are getting ready to mate or fighting over territory/mates. I have seen the lip locking and the resulting white lips.
