Blue silver angels?
Was told to post my fish to see what they are.
I believe they are blue silvers, if you need a better picture ill try and get one they are fast little buggers.
Also the stripes on them come and go depending on whether they are in full light or not, if i turn off my lights the lines are so dark and they go a really nice blue. Is this common?

Re: Blue silver angels?
If you can get some more images or a video of them that would help, at the moment I see no reason for them not to be Blue Silvers (pb/pb) but more images would give a better idea of them.
The stripes can fade with mood. Lisa

Re: Blue silver angels?
Sorry Jamie, I can't tell if it's blue from the pics. Angels are extremely difficult to photograph. I have to take maybe 100 shots just to get a handful of decent images. Keep snapping.

Re: Blue silver angels?
Hi Jamie,
If I'd seen the photos without knowing you bought them as blues, I'd have said they were simply silvers, but as Helen say's it can be very difficult to get an accurate photo of many of the blue varieties, especially if, as I suspect, you're using the camera on a mobile phone.
When you see them side by side, it's usually very easy to see the difference, hopefully these photos will help
This is a young adult female blue silver
This is one of her grandchilden, also a blue silver about 2 1/2 months old
and finally a normal silver, slightly older (4 months) sibling
It's probably fair to say that the flash slightly exagerates the blue sheen, but there is no question when seen in the flesh, the normal silvers have a beige base colour, whilst the blues look far more metallic with a bluey white sheen.
Likewise.I can't tell if it's blue from the pics.

You guys know that second picture uploaded is actually a video? Click on it and it will take you to photobucket maybe you can tell from that. But compared to those photos mine have no really visible blue just a slight blue hue, but that might just be my imagination. They are about 50p size so they should have coloured up by now. Just got ripped off :/

No, I hadn't realised that! You guys know that second picture uploaded is actually a video?
Looking at the video, they really don't look like blues. To my eyes they don't even look like typical domestic bred angels, if they're not wild caught, they certainly look like they have wild blood fairly recently in their ancestry.

Totally agree with Rob on this one. They should turn out to be really nice fish, albeit not what you bought them as. You might have a nice breeding project with the plats, you could 'create' your own 'blues' in a couple of generations.

Re: Blue silver angels?
Sorry Jamie but after looking at the video, I tend to agree that they don't look to be Blue Silvers, the only explanation I can think off (thats if this is an Ideal world where people make honest mistakes), is that possably the breeder may have assumed that blue silver meant blue cross silver? ..... I am an optimist and try to see the good in others, often to my detriment
Lovely angels though

Re: Blue silver angels?
when i first got them i thought they were a bit wildish they were very scared of everything even the lights they only eat freeze dried bloodworm or anything else that looks like a worm so ill have to add that garlic you guys talk about, where do i get it? The platinums i got off someone for 8.75 and they have paired up within a week and laid eggs byt they wern't fertile and my neons soon ate them. The 'blue angels' as they were called are 24.50 each or 3 for £65 so i got three obviouslyi have discount, they have two left should i get them?Grummie2 wrote:Pterophyllum wrote:No, I hadn't realised that! You guys know that second picture uploaded is actually a video?

, wow, that is one hell of a price! I would say you have got 3 for breeding programs, if you want more then go for the types you want, for your £65 you could have a large number of Angels Delivered that are what they are meant to be!

Re: Blue silver angels?
Well we both got attacked, I was able to restrain the woman but my poor hubby has prolapsed disks in his spine and at 52 years old has other health problems so he got beat up and his head stamped on etc.... an open forum is probably not the best place to discuss what happened as we are awaiting the police to take a statement on friday evening, so if anybody wants the full gory details then feel free to pm me as it would probably do me good to write everything down as it is just playing on my mind over and over making it difficult to concentrate
Anyway back to happier subjects, I have just wrote the list of fish available & will go and clean some tank glass ready to get up to date images
