Update on Spots and Big Smokey.
They've finally got this parent raising thing down! Although there was a slight hiccough while I was away for a couple of days and my well-meaning house-sitting mother visited, turning off the lights on the spawning tank (as well as the filter and heater on my betta tank.. Aaaargh! She's now banned from touching tanks), and they nommed a few. Still a couple of dozen survivors that are now doing very well.
Here's the father, Spots...

Re: Update on Spots and Big Smokey.
oh wow ... well done! I'm very jealous!
I noticed you mentioned the lights ... do you leave the lights on all the time when they have babies? The lights seem to have something to do with all my failed attempts to breed my two. Each time the tank lights have gone out my male has swooped in and eaten all the eggs. I'm just wondering if this is why I'm failing in breeding mine .... although a chance now would be good. My female hasn't laid any eggs in months

Yes, I'm not sure who the culprit is but while they're very tiny and the light is off they get eaten.
Spots and Big Smokey went a good month or so without spawning, and then have suddenly started up again. I think it's because they're young, but she's now laying every couple of weeks or so in a more regular pattern.

Nice to see them all grown up. I will post a picture of their old friends shortly.
I haven't been around much on the forum following my fish room nightmare, thankfully the Pinoys weren't affected by that.
