Look what I've got!!!!
Really crummy photos taken with my phone & without flash, but guess what just arrived from Bulgaria!
They're looking slightly stressed from their journey, but a few days in quarantine, and lots of food & I'm sure they'll soon recover.

They're not just for me, hopefully, once they're settled, and I picked my favourites, we'll have some left for sale too.

Are they all the same variety, or is there a mix?

Re: Look what I've got!!!!
This is what Raiko said about them :-
"Half of them are: D / + (D?) - bg / bg - 50% Manacapuru. The other half: D / + (D?) - bg / bg - pb / pb. It is also possible to have a single item: bg / bg - pb / pb and D / + - Z / + - p / p - bg / bg."
Looking at them there does seem to be some variation, you'll notice one of the ones in the photos showing partial stripes, there are a few pearlscales, there's at least one which appears to have a zebra gene.
To be honest, I haven't studied then too closely yet, because they're still rather skittish and I don't want to add to their stress, especially as there are a number which look very red on the nose and fins. I'm hoping this is down to ammonia build up on the journey, and maybe temperature fluctuation, but we're keeping a close eye on them.

Hello from me! First I want to thank Rob for his assistance in this export.
Now I can show you photos of the parents of these fish.
(D/+ - bg/bg) x (D/+ - bg/bg) Â ... Â 50% Manacapuru :
(D/+ - pb/pb - bg/bg) x (D/+ - pb/pb - bg/bg) :

Re: Look what I've got!!!!
They're lovely parents Raiko, and the body shape and fins of the offspring are wonderful.
Raiko also sent over some black lace 93.75% manacapuru youngsters. i'm wondering how much red their parents show, or whether the black tends to mask the red?
Since Manacapurus only show their red as adults/subadults, these are too young to tell at the moment.

To be completely accurate, they are 93.75% wild blood. The father is: D/Gm  (87,5% Manacapuru) , the mother is Nanacapuru (75% Manacapuru, 25% Rio Nanay). This is the mother:

Unfortunately not Rob. I wish I could, but due to the lotion I use for my pains I can't. It kills the fish, that's what happened last time. It was awhile before we found out the course of the deaths. Mind you, I still have the tanks and equipment for when or if I no longer need to use the lotion.
And may I add.
Raiko, the parents look really true remarkable looking fish. You have to be proud of them.

Thank you!
In the UK there are many good breeders, who will start working with the new gene.

The quality of your fish is already excellent, they don't need much "work" but it's great to have them over here at last.
They seem to be settling down well now, and we'll be putting them on sale early in the New Year, but here are a few slightly better photos taken today....
I'm interested to note that some are darker than others, and some of these show partial body banding, would I be correct in guessing that these are D/D individuals?

Re: Look what I've got!!!!
There's just been the one import into the UK, but they didn't all come to me. I don't know which other shops took some. In total Raiko sent about 300 of the Bulgarian Greens through the wholesaler I pm'ed you about. I've taken 45 of them.

It'll be interesting to see where they turn up. We have dealt with them before, but its been a while, and just for CW.

Pterophyllum wrote:This is one possible embodiment. I still do not have enough experience and I have no answer for that. In my fish also varies in color and some fish visible black stripes and fish are darker. I think the change in the environment can also be a cause of the darkening.

Re: Look what I've got!!!!
Well I finally brought some of these home yesterday, and already they're looking very settled, although some still have red noses :-
I also brought home six of the black lace, but they're still camera shy!

Re: Look what I've got!!!!
Did their red 'snouts' clear up? I've been told that that's how they are (so perhaps it's not a stress / environmental problem).
Some greens turned up in my tank today :-) they went in fine, all fins proud. I haven't had a really good look at them yet, they're still in minimal light. I can't believe how big my other smokey zebra has grown.
