New babies
Well as usual, things don't go as planned!!
Mrs Grumpys Ex and his new Missus are the perfect pair!!! They spawned a week before I went on holiday, I wasn't sure what to do, but I found a local enthusiast who agreed to look after my babies while I was away.
I moved them 2 days after they went free swimming, and we've only lost a few.
Obviously I did water changes at the very last minute, instructions to my long suffering daughter on how much to feed each tank... and away I went.
I messaged her yesterday to see how things were, with all the heat etc, she said fine, but the pair had spawned and eaten them, I questioned this, so she went to check, she came back shocked "hundreds of wrigglers" she said. I had hoped they would hang on till Monday, but another message today, the tank was full of swimming fry.
She sent me a picture, I counted 250!
I have some decapsulated brine shrimp, she's happy giving them that, I assume with so many she won't over feed, do you think they'll be OK till Monday??
Will they "graze" on the plants at all or do they rely on "food"?

They should be fine until Monday, but at this stage it's easy to overfeed, make sure your daughter knows that she can't starve them, but she could kill them with too much food.

OK thanks Rob will do.
She just messaged me again, they'd all disappeared............. Mum and Dad had put them to bed on a leaf!!
She said, just imagine putting 250 babies to bed..... and them all behaving!!!!

Re: New babies
Just an update, I'm home now, all babies (well who knows ) have survived. My daughter did a grand job of not over feeding!! She even managed to put some micro worms in (as she's squeamish! I was amazed).
I must admit this is my largest ever spawn, but as they're Blues, I'm sure I'll have no problems moving them on in the future.
I'm quite excited about raising them, just hope I do them justice.
I'll try and get a picture of my cloud of babies
