Re: Angelfish Photo Show entries for Class 2.
In my summing up for class 1 I stated
I realize that this came at the bottom of a long passage, so I suspect not everyone read them, however, on this occasion I have disqualified fish 3 as I'm convinced that it is the same as fish #4. My reasons for coming to this conclusion are the length of the tail streamers and the presence of an extra tail streamer at the top, the number and length of fin extensions on the anal fin, the similarity of shape of the body bands (even 'though we are looking at different sides of the same fish) and the clincher, the slightly twisted shape of the left ventral fin, and the point of the split in the right hand one.
Picking out the differences on a blue silver is hard enough, but it's even more difficult on platinums, none the less I'm confident that this time photos 6 & 7 are of different fish!
The rules for class 2 also state:-
Some of the entries are quite border line as to whether they should be in this class or in class 3 or 4, but all are also still young fish with some growing to do, so I have not disqualified any on that basis.
Once again the standard was generally very high, and I would be proud to be the owner of any of these fish.
The joint runners up were Photo #2 - a stunning fish, let down slightly by a poorly shaped right ventral, and by the uneven ventral fin splits. and Photo #5 - a really nice chunky female.
A further word about Photo #4 - who would have been clear winner if it weren't for that misshapen ventral. I love the glitter on this fish, he's a beauty.
But the winner is.....
....drum roll please......
fish #6. - in some respects of the two I actually prefer fish #7, in particular those fabulous fin extensions, but fish #6 has a much smoother cleaner look to the body, where #7 has a couple of rather obvious bumps on the flank (I'm not talking about the scales which show all the signs of the fish being heterozygous for pearlscale, but a couple of larger bumps which detract from the overall appearance of the fish.) Fish 6 has great shape to the body, nice fins and good clear colour. Congratulations
One final point, the rules clearly state....
Only one image of any particular fish is to be entered on either site....
Having looked very closely at the fish in photos 6 & 7, I am of the considered opinion that they are the same fish......
I have therefore disqualified photo #6.
