Hi All.
I was delighted this morning to discover my first angelfish eggs
They were laid on a flower pot by my gold female. affraid
I raised them from very young.
I think the male is not sure what to do.
the female enticed him over to fertilise the eggs but he started to eat them
so she chased him away,it happened twice.
will they get better at it. Very Happy
It is very exciting.
All the best.
Jim.

HI Jim,

I know how you feel, I'm still trying with my 3rd pair, no success at all yet, they get as far as wrigglers, move them around the tank a bit, then eat them! I must admit the preparation and anticipation is quite fun, IF I ever get as far as free swimmers that need feeding I'll probably panic!!! lol But I'm all ready!!

Good luck!

Lindsey

Good luck Jim, and Lindsey, I'm sure they'll get the hang of things soon.
Lindsey - How long after the eggs hatch do they eat the wrigglers? Is it the 4th night by any chance? If so, it may be that a night light left on, or even leaving the aquarium light on will help.
If you are already leaving the aquarium light on, try turning it off, but make sure that there's a little bit of ambient light in the room (such as a reading lamp in the far corner away from the tank with the parents & wrigglers).
The trick is to give the parents sufficient light to see their young, but not so much that they become stressed and nervous!

They manage 2 nights, but they've gone after that, I'll try the lights next time thanks
