Re: gold or gold marble
The two fish that you sold to me in May as sub-adults are now both of breeding age.
The male is in a breeding tank with a zebra veil tail that might be carrying a stripeless gene as well.
The female has mated in the display tank with a zebra veil tail that might be carrying a stripeless gene.
The stripeless gene is uncertain. The zebra and veil tail are obvious but the extra zebra stripes are incomplete so i think they are either Z/+ or Z/S
Two other fish that i bought at the same time ( and i am assuming came from the same batch of fry ) do not show zebra stripes and their normal stripes are incomplete. But from reading on here and other places, and in particular pterophylum (Bob) the incomplete stripes can be for any number of reasons so i am waiting to see what i get.
This is the first spawn for me that hasn't been in the display tank, but even so i am trying noty to get my hopes too high, but playing with a genetics calulator, or even doing it the hard way with a spreadsheet, is fun.
I would have got both pairs into their own breeding tank but they beat me to it. I have got the next breeding tank and all the kit but i haven't got the racking yet.
Oh well - next time maybe.
I have some other questions that i will try to post in the correct place on here.
