Fantastic shape and finnage on those Raiko! It'll be interesting to see if they keep these proportions when they are adult.

Thank you! I think the next generation F2 of this cross will show better color. I do not believe that the proportions of young fish will remain the same. Wild angelfish (including altums) always have a more well-proportioned when they are young.

Very Nice Raiko,
You can clearly see the influence of both lineages in those fish, just to clarify, I'm presuming that the fish in your friend's tank are f1 manacapuru x nanay fish.
If so that would suggest that both the manacapuru red back, and the orange body spotting of the nanay fish are due to dominant or co-dominant genes - that's not to imply that either feature is necessarily controlled by a single gene, but that the gene or genes involved in producing each characteristic are dominant or co-dominant.
i shall watch your progress with this project with considerable interest.

Thank you Rob! Yes these fish are F1 (Manacapuru x Nanay). Maybe you're right. But it is interesting that in F1 generation (Manacapuru x Koi) the back was not red.

That is interesting. That would suggest that the inheritance of of the red back pattern is more complex than just a single gene. But it is interesting that in F1 generation (Manacapuru x Koi) the back was not red.

Re: "Nanacapuru" angelfish
Any chance you could post some photos showing a clear view of the dorsal fins (preferably spread wide) of both parents and several of the f1's. I realize that's not the easiest request to meet, but I'd be really grateful for whatever you can manage.
thanks Raiko
thanks Raiko
