THIRD SPAWN
My Paraiba Pinoy/Blue Silver pair spawned again yesterday. It's a nice sized batch too. Unfortunately, this pair eat their eggs and wrigglers. They only managed to raise 11 freeswimmers last time. Rob suggested moving them from the tank under the stairs to a quieter location. I've done this in the hope they'll be less stressed. I'm also leaving the lights on for a few days. I'm keeping everything crossed. Here's a few pics. It may be difficult to get more as they grow because mum freaks out when she sees the camera.

I WASN'T EXPECTING THIS!
That the eggs became wrigglers after just 39 hours. The eggs were laid between 3pm and 6pm on Monday and they started wriggling at 9am today. Dad was moving them to a leaf and mum back to the pot. Mum finally got the message and followed dad's lead. There are around 50 on the leaf and 250 on the pot. I noticed the water temp is 84, so I guess that's why they're early. Good news is, mum and dad have eaten very few. I think moving them to the other tank worked. Mum is much calmer. Thanks Rob!

Thanks both. I am hoping that a few more than 11 make it this time.

Re: THIRD SPAWN
I'm pleased to report there's still a couple of hundred wrigglers clinging to their leaves. Here's a few pics. Not the best, because my camera phone is playing up and won't focus properly.

Indeed Rob. I estimate there's around 300! It beats 11 hands down. Lol.

Heart Attack Time
I thought it was time for a wc on this tank. I've held off doing this because mum is so skittish. All seemed well whilst I was doing the wc. They fell off the leaf and the patents spat them back, but when I checked later I couldn't see one wriggler. Disaster! On closer inspection they were in a heap on the tank floor. Phew, what a relief!

Yes Grummie, it's the biggest batch I've had to get this far. It's a pity they decided to move them to a heap on the floor. I'm hoping bacteria aren't going to be an issue.

I haven't had any problems when my pairs move wrigglers to the floor

Re: THIRD SPAWN
All the fry went freeswimming early this morning. I don't see any bellysliders, but I do see lots of pinoys. Apologies for the pics, but my camera phone needs replacing.

Thanks Lisa. I'm still in shock knowing they all survived to make it to freeswimmers.

It's all thanks to your suggestion to move the spawning tank's position.
