I've been keeping freshwater fish on and off for 40 years and I currently have 4 tanks at the moment. I have to admit my main focus are my Clown loaches for which I have 11 6 inch fish in a 6x2x2 ft aquarium. I started with Angelfish when I wanted to get a confident fish which would give the Clowns a sense of safety and come out from their caves more often. This worked a treat but it wasn't long before I had my first batch of eggs. As an unintentional spawning this was a match between an all black angel and a golden one resulting in some very attractive patterned fish and a 25% proportion of all blacks. Since then I've been a little more scientific with 2 more batches of fry on the go, this time from tricolour koi parents and also a batch from all gold parents. This this ended up with my buying 2 more tanks to grow them on. Reading up on the genetics and the desirable traits along with their confident smart behaviour has me hooked now. I have a utility room with bottles of brine shrimp. I would definitely like to refine my skills and learn more about this fascinating subject. I will upload some photo's later.
