fin rot or fin nipped??

I brought some fish from someone who was closing down a tank, which included 4 large 5-6" Angels, the silver dollars that were included had had fin rot, but they assured me it had been treated. I have noticed the state of some of the angels fins, one of the ones they said that they rescued has most of its fins gone, although they said they are growing back...I'm now wondering if they have fin rot? however they were in a tank with some African Cichlids, so I guess it could have been them that caused the damage to the Angels? Any info, thoughts would be great, excuse the picture quality, and water as I had just done a water change. Any idea on sex of them? I will try get some better photo's this evening. The look pretty tatty, but that's to be expected if they've been kept with Malawi's. I don't see any obvious signs of fin rot, but the water looks hazy which could indicate nitrite or ammonia, worth checking, as that could cause further fin damage. If the water quality is good, the damaged fins will heal surprisingly quickly.

TY for getting back to me, that is what I was hoping to hear, Water tests were all ok, I had just done a water change on this holding / quarantine tank and added a pete ball, water is usually crystal clear.

have you any idea on the sex from these photos? I've done so much reading around and looked at all the different tell tale signs etc, and I am still non the wiser lol, any help appreciated. ty

Sexing fish from a single photo can be very difficult, with some fish it's obvious, but none of these show particularly clear signs, the only one I'd be reasonably confident to call is the smokey/chocolate in the second photo, that's probably a male.

I'm afraid your pictures are not very clear to go by, but if you could send them again with all the angels side on so I can see from the nose to the base of the upper fin I will be able to give you precise sexing's.

But in the mean time I have had a look and they could be......

The black in picture one could be anybody's guess due to not being able to see the fish.
The marble in picture two looks like a could be female, but is a bit blurred or messy water,
Picture three is a male
Picture four looks like the same marble as in picture two, again blurred and a bit messy water.

As For your second topic with the four angels in is a lot clearer. But if you can get them singley with not too much background it is better for identification, as I copy the picture and enlarge it to get a better look.
