Some of the python water changers are overpriced for what they are, essentially a length of hose.

Hope you're in less pain soon. You might need a 'power nap' today.

I did read instructions last year on how to make your own but it was on a forum that I've walked away from due to cyber bullies frequenting it ... I really don't wanna go back just to remind myself but I might have to! The original version is about 60 quid and I can't justify 60 quid for a length of hose as you say

I have an internal filter and I should be able to add a length of hose to it and pump water out ... it's just getting around to it!

I was in asda the other day, they were selling 15ft hose (no connectors) for 3 pounds, reduced from 5. That (connected with your pump) is all you'd need to get the water out Smile
That solves 50% of the problem.

As for putting water in, you might need to be a bit more particular about the type of material the hose is made out of. I read somewhere that certain materials aren't good. When ever I've looked at hosepipes they don't tend to tell you what materials are used.

The hose from the aquatic store is probably ok, but costing about 2.50 per meter, it can soon add up!
You could search for alternative hose anything which states 'potable water' or 'food grade' should be suitable for fish, the cost could be lower.

I think I worked out that I need 6 metres of hose from tank to kitchen sink. I bought one of those old shower attachment things that push on the taps (kitchen sink has seperate hot and cold taps) ages ago and that fits on the taps snuggly. I attempted to sort this over a year ago as I'd seen clear hose in B&Q that I thought would do the job but when I went to buy some they were out of stock. Each time I went back to get some they were still out of stock so I gave up!

I need to get it sorted now and stop dithering ... you know how it is though. Other stuff comes up and you ain't got enough cash spare this week and so you'll sort it next week and so it goes on and on!

I need to get on the ball and if it means spending more buying 6 metre's of hose from the lfs then I suppose that's what I'll have to do

Story of my life, it always takes two things, time and money.
People tend to be either time rich and poor OR rich and time poor. Very few people have both the time and the money.

I'm time rich, health poor Sad so even when I have the time, making the effort can be difficult, that's why I'm trying to do something that I'm motivated to do and interested in, breeding angelfish and learning lots about them.

I don't worry about money too much because I've never had enough of it to worry about! Money is just a byproduct of what you do.

time rich and poor too... and yes, health poor too. I'd always wanted fish from a young age as my Dad has always kept fish. When I got them they were supposed to help my problems with anxiety ... little did I know they brought with them a different kind of anxiety Laughing
