Camallanus treatment Empty Camallanus treatment

I have an angel with a camallanus (or is it camellanus?) worm protruding. I treated her tank on 1st July with Kusuri Wormer plus and it disappeared. It is now back. I put another dose in today. Am I flogging a dead horse with the Wormer Plus? I have read that Sera Nematol is supposed to work but I thought I would ask you before trying multiple things.

I had this before, a couple of years ago in a swordtail and I couldnt get rid of it successfully. I tried Beaphar bird wormer then, but I had no idea of the dose.

I've no experience with the Sera treatment, from time to time retreating with wormers is necessary as it's very hard to prevent reinfection. Redosing a couple of weeks after the initial treatment can be a good plan. Sometimes it's worth trying different products when one doesn't seem to work, but check ingredients as often different products have the same active ingredient, and do a few water changes & use carbon before switching from one to another.

Thanks Robert. I will try the JBL Nedol Plus. Last night I was sure I glimpsed a protruding worm from the males anus too.  Evil or Very Mad

Camallanus treatment Empty Deworming Flakes

Post  Filterfish Tue 05 Aug 2014, 00:25

I have used....Kusuri Wormer Plus which is a Flubendazole based medication. I have had recurrences.

I still use it but I am now combining it with Deworming Flake III with Levamisole. It is a flaked fish food. I was having problems getting them to eat it. Now I use Seachems GarlicGuard to soak the flake in first and then feed it to the fish.

I don't know if it is fully successful. I have only just started feeding all my fish. But the person who suggested this method said it worked for him.

Hope this helps....

Kusuri wormer plus is what I have used twice. I also have some Levamisole flaked food, imported from US which the fish ignore. I will have to get some garlic guard. I think its because the Levamisole flake is a blue colour, it puts them off. Its not natural to eat anything blue. Anyway I got the JBL yesterday and added it. I will let you know how it works. The worm is still protruding today.  Evil or Very Mad

Lets see....

Well, I had to move my parent angels out of the 20 gallon. I was feeding them frozen bloodworm and frozen brine shrimp along with soaking the food in the Seachem GarlicGuard. The strange thing happened; they started to expel the worms! No other medication was in the tank or in their food.

I am having a hard time believing guarlic could do this. But anyway, My parent angels where doing very well with the babies but I just couldn't keep up with the worm removal. I didn't want the fry eating the parasite!. I added the Kusuri Wormer Plus, but it was working so slowly and I need to add a second dose! Three days into the second dose I still can see a worm here or there! Uggggh!

The Parent Angelfish are now in my 55 gallon with a partition between them. I added Kusuri Wormer Plus and am feeding them the Deworming Flake III fish food with Levamisole. Yah, the flakes are blue! I soaked them in the GuarlicGuard first and held my breath...

And they ate some...spit it out, in, out. And then they kept in! They didn't eat a lot, but they ate it! They are only getting fed once at night. I am going to do it three days in a row, as the first day I don't think they ate enough, so I am extending it.

I am now hopeful I can finally end this worm madness!

I would love to know if JBL Nedol Plus works for you too! Because I have to do this two more times, at least 2 weeks apart..... Shocked

Good Luck!  flower  Filterfish

Thank you that's encouraging. I am in the Netherlands atm and I miss my fish. When I get back home I hope to get some garlic guard, if not, I will crush some fresh stuff and try that.

Back from holiday and no worms visible. I hope that is the end of them, I am going to do another dose of the JBL stuff as that is what I think has helped.
