The Peachy fishroom...
I have been on here for a while, so I should probably share the delights of my fish room. I have an attic bedroom which is the full size of the house and conveniently served by an ensuite. Why waste all that space I thought. It started when I moved one tank upstairs. Then replaced it with a rack of 3, did a bit of breeding, and before I knew it I was running 21 tanks up there. Since specialising in angels, I have whittled this down to 10 tanks, all except one dedicated to angels. The ensuite makes water changes easy, I connect the HMA unit to the shower, and run a hose off that to the tanks. I have to run my RO unit downstairs and twice a week persuade husband to carry the RO water up.
Most of the fish live in tapwater run through the HMA, I only use the RO to soften the water when a pair are reluctant to spawn, I also hatch the eggs in 50% RO 50% tap.
First tank is 180 litre Juwel Rio on top of a metal stand. Has about 100 youngsters growing on, I have sold about 300 of them. They were laid on 20.3.14. Underneath them is a 3ft tank with a long fin black marble and an albino female who regularly spawn, I am leaving them to get on with it as they tend to eat the fry. This is possibly because I have to walk past this tank the most. There are currently eggs on the cone. I could pull them, but raising them wont fit in with my holiday plans.
This week I created a new 2 tier 18 inch cube stand. Once again a metal stand, two tiers but these two tanks have tinted glass, I bought them from a discus breeder. Mr Big in my avatar photo and his Mrs occupy the top one, the bottom is empty.
Next is a rack of two x 2ft tanks, top one with a lovely big male black marble and a female koi who wont breed. I was given her, she is a picky eater, I know she is a female because I put her in with a couple ready to spawn and she showed her breeding tube. Not seen it since, resists all the tricks, warmer water, cool water changes, adding RO etc. I think she might need to be sold. Underneath her are a couple of koi angels which arent very good really, I bought them from a local man and they have quite short gill covers, but their colouring is interesting. The male is mostly yellow front half, white back half, and a black stripe up the dorsal and black stripe tail. Looks quite striking, even if he isnt show standard. They havent bred yet, today I changed them into 50% RO 50% tap and they are looking at the cone. No result yet.
I have another Rio 180 with an assortment of ranchu and pearlscale fancy goldfish in. I did dabble in fancy breeding, but it wasnt for me.
By the side of my bed I have 6 young adult blue angels 4 of which are veil. They are in another Juwel rio. The two non veil have taken over one half of the tank and are cleaning a leaf and a slate alternately. By the window are 3 young gold pearlscales, growing on in a 2ft, then another nice 2ft furnished with bogwood and real anubias with a gold pair in. This week I have an order of 6 koi arriving to grow on, proper koi with blushing, not like the above ones that I bought before I knew better.
My breeding plans in the summer are thwarted by Mr M's holiday ambitions. He absolutely must have two holidays a year or he gets even grumpier. We have to take them in school holiday time too, so its basically one week spring bank hol, 2 weeks august, which pretty much b*ggers up the breeding for the summer. I also have 3 display tanks downstairs. More about those later.

Hey, sounds like a great location for a fish room, provided you don't get careless with the water. Looking forward to hearing about your other tanks, and some photos would be nice too .
Holidays do louse up the breeding routine, but it's surprising how well and how long youngsters will survive without food, providing they're about pea size or larger; and if you can get them on to flake, then an autofeeder will keep them happy for a couple of weeks or more.

I have some pics, but I forgot all about how to get them on here, I will have to learn again. Bear with me!

I have put my photos on photobucket, here goes! They are taking an age to load up to photobucket, it makes me grumpy as facebook is much quicker, but I realise you may not all do facebook.
Tank one is on top of a rack Juwel Rio 180 L and has youngsters I bred.
Tank two is a 3ft and is beneath the Juwel, it contains a veil marble and a female albino. I have had eggs but no fry yet. I sometimes divide this tank in half if we get crowded.
Tank 3 is Mr Big and his Mrs. He is albino pearlscale and the oldest angel I have and my fave. Currently paired with an albino female, had eggs but not reared any. He fathered the 400 youngsters in the first tank. This tank is an 18 inch cube with tinted glass, I have two I bought off a discus breeder.
Tank 4 has some young blacks I bought from a guy in Doncaster who does a bit of breeding.
Tank 5, top of a 2 tier stand, is a Juwel 2ft with young kois in, purchased last month, growing on, as I got disenchanted with koi adults I had.
Tank 6 another 2ft underneath the above has a pair of blue angels in I bought as youngsters, these two paired quite early.
Tank 7 has oddments of fancy goldfish, wont bore you with them.
Tank 8, next to my bed is a Rio 125 with a group of feisty blue angels, some are veil. Same place as tank 6. This 4 are still unpaired but one male is getting a bit cocky.
Tank 9 Another Juwel 2ft with a pair of golds, one of which is veil. The female has had babies with the albino pearlscale.
Tank 10 3 gold pearlscale purchased earlier this year and grown on, not paired yet. Also one of my babies has turned up in here too.

If you've already uploaded your photos to facebook, you don't need to upload them to photobucket, just right click on the image in facebook, select "Copy image URL", click on the "insert an Image" icon, right click in the box next to URL and select paste! They are taking an age to load up to photobucket, it makes me grumpy as facebook is much quicker, but I realise you may not all do facebook.
Just to prove it works, this is my facebook profile picture .....

Some of the youngsters from 20 March spawn
These are at my bedside and I cannot resist taking photos when the light strikes the side.

Got 3 gold pearlscales, that was all the shop had left. Hoping there is a pair here. I think it was about January time I bought them to grow on, same time as blues.

Which one? I have two non pearlscale albinos, both females, one is paired with the male albino pearlscale and one is with the marble (really for want of a better place to put her).
I havent been able to raise any babies from the albinos, hence the pairing of albino pearlscale and gold which gave me about 400 smokey babies. I really want some albino youngsters though and still have hopes of the with the two albino parents. I had wondered about back crossing these young when grown, or crossing brother to sister. But then I was trying to get my head round the smokey gene and its alleles.

Re: The Peachy fishroom...
In your first post, with photos i can only see one, the one in tank 2 paired with a marble.Which one?
The only thing to watch is the facebook privacy settings, I can't see the photos in your last two posts, presumably because they're set as private rather than public posts. You can now have image overload

Re: The Peachy fishroom...
I have had another move around. I sold my gold breeding pair locally because they werent delivering much. Since they were treated for camallanus, successfully, the breeding side of things has been a bit strange. Pity, as the male had lovely long graceful fins. A pair of black youngsters have taken their place. They spawned in their group tank and I took them out so they could have their own place.
The platinums and a few of the smokeys I saved are now growing on in the Rio 180 and not the display tank downstairs. The gold pearlscales must be 3 of the same sex, they are now large enough to be breeding but they dont show their breeding tubes. I have a known female albino spare, and I put her in with them, to no avail, so maybe theyre all female.
The albino pair did manage some eggs, but ate them as per. I wonder if our bedroom is too busy for the angels, because it matters not whether I leave them a light on or cover them with a black cloth, they still scoff. I have been going up their quite a lot though to feed the youngsters. One of the blue angel pairs did manage to last two nights and not scoff the eggs, but on the third day they went, maybe because I was water changing an adjacent tank.
Anyway, tomorrow I am starting culturing white worms. I thought they might be useful in conditioning the adults. I expect it will be a month or so before the culture gets going. I think indoors might be too warm though, but if I put it into the shed, it might attract vermin. The downstairs loo might be just the place!
Ive moved my fancies around and I am trying to sell my 6ft tank so I can redecorate downstairs and have new flooring put down. When the dust has settled, maybe a new display tank will arrive! Or maybe 2 is enough in our lounge.
