Pink colouring in Koi Angelfish?
OK before I post any piccys what does anyone know of pink irridecence in Koi angels? I know that some pb het fish can have a pink colouring in the finnage when young but this type of pink is developing more & more with age.

You do like to tease us, don't you!OK before I post any piccys
I know Ken posted some photos of a fish with pink glitter.
and I know some paraibas go through a phase of pinky red irridescence on the way to the blue.
and then you get fish like your blue koi in the forum logo.
I've seen it more in paraiba koi than in standard koi, but I'm struggling to find a good photo that shows it.
I don't think they even have to be het. pb's
although this one is...
a lot depends on angle, in relation to the light, under normal lighting conditions the fish below has blue irridescent patches, the pink and red areas only show if the light catches it right...
I have a flourescent tube above all my tanks, I also have a ceiling light fitting with three halogen spots. A while back I was watching the fish in my fish room when the tank lights went off (they're on a timer) suddenly the fish were lit only by the halogen lights. Under this lighting all the blue in the paraiba patches disappeared and the patches instead shone with brilliant pinks reds and yellows!
Now I've shown you some of mine, will you show us yours?

, well I never Rob, been a long time since that was said to me mateNow I've shown you some of mine, will you show us yours?
Ok, ok.... for those that don't know, I am (along with others in the UK) trying to produce a Koi with good orange/red coverage. I have used a lovely Red Devil Male and assuming that something else would be the key to increasing the coverage (or else they would be here now as Red Devils have been around for at least a year or two) I opted to use a female Koi that I had picked up at an auction, she caught my eye as the anount of orange was only in small well defined patches and not extensive but has confused me as to what else she may be hidding, call it a gut feeling
Yes I will get to the pink soon........
Anyway my project is looking good, BUT I have only recently noticed a different colouring in some of the youngsters (the last batches were sold at 10p size other than the ones I kept back, but this batch has been growing on to choose some good ones for a certain Tom in Scotland!
I started to notice a pink irridecance developing on some of the youngsters I have growing on & yes as they get bigger it is increasing, anyway I will post some images & somebody tell me if I am just chasing Ghosts or am I right in thinking there is anouther project here?
Please note that this is not the peachy colouring that I have seen in pb het. Please see the other fish in the background for comarison of colour.

They are lovely Lisa. My favourites are the ones with plenty of black. And yes, I can see the pretty pink colouring.

Re: Pink colouring in Koi Angelfish?
I think it must be my monitor, I couldn't see the pink in Ken's photos, and, nice 'though they are, I can't see the pink in these?!?
It doesn't matter if I can't see it, as long as you can! Choose the ones with the most pink, or if it fades as they mature, the ones that keep the pink for longest, and breed from them, you might find you get something startling in a few generations, but equally you could be looking at something which bears real fruit in 20 generations. hopefully by then I'll have a monitor which lets me see the results of your hard labours!tell me if I am just chasing Ghosts or am I right in thinking there is anouther project here?

Certainly the second fish has some quite vivid pink at the base of the dorsal. I think you may be right. Excellent shots btw.
