Eye infection
Can anyone help with this. For some time I've had a problem with one tank where the eyes firstly go cloudy, then white and finally the eye is permanently damaged.
I've tried treating with Melafix with some temporary success but the problem comes back. This only happens in the one tank which I've kept isolated for obvious reasons.
Any suggestions. Maybe Rob has seen this? When the eyes go from cloudy to white they form what looks like a sort of hard white scab.
Thanks,
Trevor

What's the pH of the tank?
Many years ago I thought I had a disease issue in a tank where the fish were developing white eyes, when I checked the pH it had dropped to 4.0!
If pH & other water parameters are good, the next question is the whiteness & cloudiness, on the surface, or in the eye, assuming it's on the the surface, and since melafix seems to help, I'd treat with an alternating combination of esha 2000, melafix and myxazin - only one at a time. eg :-
Do a full course of melafix followed by several days of part water changes and if possible run a carbon filter, then do a full course of esha 2000, leave for a few days, then carbon and water changes, then the same with myxazin.

Re: Eye infection
Thanks Rob,
I haven't checked the pH for a week or so, must do that. Some of my tanks do have a tendancy to go acid because I use RO generally. I have read that low pH can cause it so will do that now. The problem is on the surface of the eye and is something that I have had on and off with this group of fish for a long time (maybe 2 years or more).
I moved house at the start of last year. Because I had this problem for a while at my last house I kept these fish together putting them into a newly set up tank when I moved. The problem seems to come in phases, I get it cleared up for a while and then it occurs again.
If the pH is OK, I'll try your combination approach.
Thanks,
Trevor
