What are these?

Hello ... Again,
I have found a guy up in Belfast not far from me that breeds 8 thousand angels a year. His name is Raymond Jarvis. Emailed him and he has 1 thousand for sale but this is what he has for sale - Silver Leapord, Dark leapord, silvers and normals? By normals he means silver stripes. But what and does anyone have any pictures of the - dark leapords or silver
Leapords? Think he described to be that their half black? Well if someone could get a picture and a discription on these colours that would be great! ( including the silver )

The wild type angelfish is also known as a silver angel, I presume this is what he means by a normal.


Add one dark gene and you get something called a black lace. Like a silver angel, but with a grey rather than a silver background colour.

If instead you add a smokey gene you get a smokey angel, some people confuse these with half blacks, but they are not the same...


Next there's a gene called zebra, a silver with a zebra gene has extra vertical body bands, one between the two normal body bands, and one between the rear body band and the tail band.

The fun starts when you start mixing these genes together....

a fish with a smokey & a zebra gene is known as a leopard, the body pattern is rather variable as lighting levels when they are young can affect their appearance, but essentially the zebra breaks up the smokey pattern to some extent...


Finally if you add in a dose of dark, you get a leopard lace (presumably what he means by a dark leopard.)

All that said, you'd be better off getting him to provide photos of what he's selling, especially if you're not going to pick them yourself.

It's not the most flattering photo, as it's very difficult with all dark fish to get a photo which accurately conveys their colour. In the flesh I think they're stunning!
