No More Breeding Angels
I haven't been on for a while as I've been very busy. Anyhow, I had a batch of 200 or so angelfish fry and had been growing them out to sell. They've taken so long to get to 20p bodysize and so many water changes that I decided I couldn't carry on. I sold all the fry as a job lot, but I'm keeping my largest tanks for the adult angels and bn plecs I still have. I will pop in every so often to see what's going on.

Re: No More Breeding Angels
Hi Helen
That's a shame. It does seem that some batches take much longer to grow than others, I'm sure the secret is to give them space, so if the bug does catch you again, try raising 50 in the same tank that you were trying to raise 200 and see the difference.
Also, if you want fast growing, avoid blacks, zebras, blues and pearlscales, especially in combination, as all can be slower growing than average!

Thanks Rob. You hit the nail on the head. Too many fry, too few tanks. 200 fry in 3 tanks was the problem and I found it hard keeping up with all the water changes. No matter, at least I experienced the thrill of the whole process. As to catching the bug again, I still have a few adults, so who knows. Never say never. Lol

Re: No More Breeding Angels
Hi helen, its hard work with loads of fry, I myself need to cut down breeding pairs as they are taking over my fry rearing tanks . Getting back to manageble numbers is the key.
