ODDS OF SURVIVAL
I have had to remove both parents from a large spawn due to one reason or an other, it was a large spawn of around 1000 eggs & this is a first for me a spawn of this size,Around 100 eggs were not viable & the Mum ate a few hence removeing her, well the eggs have started to hatch but as they are stating to wriggle they are falling to the base of the cone,i now have around 500 wrigglers on the floor & as the others are hatching some are staying put but the rest are also falling, what are the odds of survival as they are still wriggling?

Very good. Make sure the tank bottom is kept free of waste and they should be fine. You could try using a pipette to put them back on the cone, but you run the risk of damaging the fry.

Re: ODDS OF SURVIVAL
Just an update on this lot, well i now have around 400 or so wrigglers possably more but its hard to tell as they have grouped up in bundles on the floor of the tank wriggling away & looking good the only downfall is that they have spred allover the bottom of the tank now so any maitainance if any is very difficult as i dont want to syphone any up,they hatched on saturday its now monday morning so should go free swimming very soon, then i may be able to do a bit of a headcount. The parants are Male pb leopard pearlscale of KK lines & the Female is from Helen the Smokey blushing that came from John Walmby, of which shows a very differant blue in the patches she has compared to the pb so it will be good to see what i get from these,i havn't checked the calender to see what to expect yet so time will tell.

Re: ODDS OF SURVIVAL
You've still got a good size batch at 400 Paul.
If your male is Z/+ - Sm/+ - p/p - pb/pb and the female is Sm/+ - S/S - pb/+ you will get the following offspring:-
1 +/+,S/+,+/+,+/+, +/+, +/+,p/+,+/+,pb/+ Ghost 6.25%
2 +/+,S/+,+/+,+/+, +/+, +/+,p/+,+/+,pb/pb Blue ghost 6.25%
3 +/+,S/+,Sm/+,+/+, +/+, +/+,p/+,+/+,pb/+ Smokey ghost 12.5%
4 +/+,S/+,Sm/+,+/+, +/+, +/+,p/+,+/+,pb/pb Blue smokey ghost 12.5%
5 +/+,S/+,Sm/Sm,+/+, +/+, +/+,p/+,+/+,pb/+ Chocolate ghost 6.25%
6 +/+,S/+,Sm/Sm,+/+, +/+, +/+,p/+,+/+,pb/pb Blue chocolate ghost 6.25%
7 +/+,Z/S,+/+,+/+, +/+, +/+,p/+,+/+,pb/+ Clown 6.25%
8 +/+,Z/S,+/+,+/+, +/+, +/+,p/+,+/+,pb/pb Blue clown 6.25%
9 +/+,Z/S,Sm/+,+/+, +/+, +/+,p/+,+/+,pb/+ Smokey leopard ghost 12.5%
10 +/+,Z/S,Sm/+,+/+, +/+, +/+,p/+,+/+,pb/pb Blue smokey leopard ghost 12.5%
11 +/+,Z/S,Sm/Sm,+/+, +/+, +/+,p/+,+/+,pb/+ Chocolate leopard ghost 6.25%
12 +/+,Z/S,Sm/Sm,+/+, +/+, +/+,p/+,+/+,pb/pb Blue chocolate leopard ghost 6.25%
Plenty of phenotypes to choose from there. Lol

Re: ODDS OF SURVIVAL
Quick update before water changes i arrived home this afternoon from work to find a swarm of freeswimmers & far more than i thought, so if all goes well i will soon be able to do a headcount as just far to many at the mo to even consider trying,i have high hopes for this spawn but will be happy to see just half go all the way.

Re: ODDS OF SURVIVAL
Wel its 48hrs after going freeswimming & all are doing well,i gave them there 1st feed yesterday & all BBS were eaten,i'm only feeding once a day for now & will increase as time goes by,i did syphone up a few when cleaning but its no great loss, apart from that i have only noticed that i had 4 fatalities of which they seemed to have swollen bellys but the bellys were clear/seethrough.No belly sliders or anything else.the only real issue is that they are in a didvided 36x12x18 & some have sliped past the divider but i can put up with putting them back & as time goes on & they grow that will not be a problem.I will post pics once im able to work out how to do so.
