Here's one of my last years babies, he's just suddenly had a huge growth spurt and wants to be a daddy! He's been displaying himself to the female and I've only just noticed what great fins he has!

This is just daylight and my phone, nowhere near the standard of Robs photographs, but I think you can get the idea! He's a Blue Pearlscale Smokey, a distant relative of Robs Blues from a couple of years ago and I love him! I just hope he's going to be a good parent like his were! His chosen lady is a Blue Silver.

I have no idea why its sideways! This happened to me before, not sure where I've gone wrong, Sad  the original wasn't

Gosh, the smokey pattern doesn't show at all in those photos.
What does show is the streaked line in the dorsal fin, and I'd be pretty confident that there's a gold gene hiding in him too.
Do you have any photos of his belle?

Look at the poor thing now!!! He's been with his chosen mate for a while, they regularly spawn every 10 days, but one of them munches after a couple of days. I noticed yesterday he was being chased by the female, she was relentless, he'd clamped his fins, so I put a divider in to give him a rest (they'd been fine together till this, possibly due to spawn again in a couple of days).

Once she was out of reach, he's relaxed and un clamped his fins ............... but Oh dear Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Sad Sad Sad

All grown up Fins10

Should I turf her out or see what happens if I remove the divider?? Rolling Eyes

It's surprising how quickly damaged fins regrow, but I'd leave them separate for a while, preferably in tanks where they can't see each other, then when reintroduced she'll probably have just fond memories of him and welcome him back.... probably.
