A long time coming.....
Well as the heading says....it's been 'a long time coming', a viable spawn that is! Don't know what the problems been....just infertile spawns or dead fry a day after hatching....from multiple pairs! It's been a good 10 months+ of this, I'd virtually given up trying to breed angels....got plenty of fry from other species though.
My last 'successful' spawn yielded about 10 fry, these are now old enough to breed, so I picked an interesting pair from them.....a male 'streaked smokey pinoy (ghost?)' and a female 'streaked smokey pinoy paraiba', it wasn't a massive spawn but there's a good 150 - 200 healthy looking fry. I'll post pics as they develop.
Hoping for some 'double dark pinoys' of some sorts....hoping that is....

Thanks chaps! I'm hoping for some interesting 'chocolates' in this batch too, you can easily tell the darks from normal but I couldn't say if there's any 'double' darks, that'll probably show in growth rate or even future spawnings of the fry. I have noticed a huge size difference in the fry on hatching, very unusual to see fry half the size of their siblings, good job I'm using the smallest live brine shrimp or they'd have starved.....some were too small though.

I'll be interested to see how your babies develop from this pair, as I've just noticed a sibling pair formed in one of my grow on tanks and preparing to spawn. The only difference being that the streaked smokey pinoy paraiba is the male...
not such a good photo, but look at the spread of that anal fin
Sadly, I haven't got a spare breeding tank for them at the moment, besides, I'm not convinced that double darks is a direction that I want to travel, your photos may change my mind!

A beautiful pair Rob, and great colour in those beautiful fins on the male!
I'll post pics as soon as there's something interesting to see. The double darks may mask the blue, hopefully not on any possible paraibas though. Time will tell...
