Aquired these a while ago, just taken them out of quarantine (thats another story...). They came to me as Scalare x Altum, of course they're not, but they are really high bodied fish with plenty of spotting which you'd expect from a wild type. I'm hoping to breed these together, they should make an impressive tall tank display fish in their 'natural' state, plus crossing them into the blue lines should be interesting. The albinos are really nice too, great finnage (well it will be when the chemical burn has healed!!) and really strong looking fish. They are still quite young but are putting on a real growth spurt, they'll be big fish.
There is a thread on TAF11 about an albino Scalare x Altum, maybe its from the same source as these.....(Israel discus farm).

Very nice shape on those Graham. The dorsal pattern is also interesting on the silvers, red spots rather than striations in the centre of the fin. I've seen something similar, but usually on young zebra angels, those don't appear to be either (young or zebra).

It's hard to be sure, but the albino in the bottom photo doesn't appear to have the spots, even 'though the striations stop in the middle of the fin.

These are possibly the best looking albinos I've seen for a while. Where we're they from? There body shape looks very 'wild type' which is very nice. I've never kept wild angels as I have heard how hard they are to keep. Have these been difficult?

If you're ever looking to move them on I think I'd be able to find some space for them Wink

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Rob....I cant see any spotting on the albinos either as yet although my understanding was they're the same 'type' as the silvers. I guess it might show when they're a bit bigger. I'm guessing these fish are between 4 and 5 months old, they're really growing fast atm.

Paul... Yes, its exciting, I've always had a soft spot for albinos, and with these having great shape and finnage I can't wait to hopefully work with some!

Helen... They do have very tall bodies, I'm a bit unsure of the 'bumpy' nose tho'. It may need to be straightened lol!

Sam....The albinos seem to be very strong and have been easy to care for after getting them through their parasite/protozoa issues. The finnage would have been much better but the chems I used took its toll. They all originate from a discus farm in Israel, they were a sample from a wholesaler.

Jimmy.... I can't wait to start crossing these into my blue lines, if I can get that shape and finnage with the blue combo's I think I'll be in angel heaven!!!!! Albinos are from Israel too.

Lisa.... one day we should swap a few of our lines......

ta...

Just had my first spawning from these....but everyone jumped on the eggs before I knew what was happening. I'll split the pair from the rest (male albino, female silver) for the next attempt, I really want some young off these!!!

These are some beautiful fish Graham and congrats on the first spawning. I'm not big on albinos myself but can't deny these are lovely fish and the silvers are fantastic. Can't wait to see how the next spawning goes.

We've just sourced a batch of the 'Dantum' angels (no albinos yet) at the shop. Almost breeding size and feeding very well.....these are stunners and worth adding to and tank or breeding project! They are the same as the 'silver' angels I've pictured above, which imo are some of the nicest silvers I've come across. Just thought I'd let you know there's some now available...

Hi fazerdave. We have the normal silvers from Danziger atm, we're trying to get the albinos but they didn't send any with this shipment. I'll post on here when/if we get some.
Here's a short vid of the dantum angels in the shop atm.

I was mesmerised by the pictures, they are beautiful. The name Grummie also rings a bell, did you used to be Grummie on SVAS forum? It strikes me as you may be as you are not that far from Sheffield. In which case, where is your shop please?

Hi Peaches! Yes that was(is) me on the SVAS forum. The Dantums have all been sold now (sorry), I'll ask the boss if he plans to get any more in, hopefully they'll have some albinos available. The shop is Wharf Aquatics, Pinxton, off J28 M1. Hope to see you there soon!

I must make time this summer to go to Wharf. Thanks for getting back to me. I am busy with breeding projects at the moment, I am fairly new to breeding angels. I also breed ranchu, I know, a strange combination.
