Hi I am andy from Llandrindod Wells I am relatively new to tropical fish and so far I don't think I have done to bad sort of. But I have to admit I have unfortunately read a lot of misinformation in the last couple of month's hence I have now purposely sort out this site in the hope that I can sort out my trio

Welcome, joined a few months back, I'm sure you'll find the information you want, or an opinion or two and plenty of words of wisdom from experience. If it's angelfish you're interested in, you came to the right place Razz

A trio... you most likely have two of one sex and one of the opposite sex - over 66% chance of that.
How do they need sorting out?

Hi and thanks for the welcome I originally had 1 and I new that was ok but after a while I thought about company and came across 2 that were for sale locally so I did some research and on more than 2 occasion I read that I could keep three in one tank so I have now got three angel fish which is pretty cool apart from the fact that one of the new 2 I bought is constantly having ago at the other new one when they had previously happily cohabited hope that makes sense and if it also helps I can post pics

Pictures are good Andy.

You know what they say 'three's a crowd' - if they're young, it might be a bit of banter which will settle down. If they're reaching sexual maturity, or sexually mature, it could be that A fancies B as a mate, so they're testing each other to see if they're a worthy mate (you see it outside nightclubs, people beat each other up, then jump in a taxi together for a romantic night). It could also be that A or B fancies C as a mate, so A and B have to win C over (the strongest gets the girl or boy)... you see that outside night clubs too Smile

Well that's my take on it. I don't know that other people think about this, or do in this situation if they all have to live in the same tank. One idea is to move the tank decor around / move filters to break up any existing territory, stress them a little and they will huddle together (not too much of course) maybe 'disturb them' is a better way of putting it. When their attention is elsewhere, they may just forget what they were fighting about in the first place.

I suppose this is what makes angelfish interesting, they have personalities and react to other fish in different ways. I have a gold male angel. He'll dive bomb at any other angel, except his mate. In a tank together they're very peaceful, in a community tank, he wants to own it. That said, if she chomps his fry, he'll take exception to that, which is why she has to do it when he's not looking - they watch each other like hawks, waiting for the opportunity  Shocked  Shocked

Yes, I have seen your video of the pair spawning and read the very good advice given to you there.

Maybe you'll be visiting more often Razz
