Heiko Bleher's Summary of the Genus Pterophyllum

Post  Chris Englezou on Thu 13 Mar 2014, 10:18

Hi guys, for anyone interested there is a 20 page summary of the Pterophyllum genus featured in Heiko Bleher's latest book (Discusbook 04). It contains a distribution map with photos of 23 angelfish populations which Heiko has encountered on his expeditions and the rivers they were found in.

It covers the regions of

Orinoco Basin (altum)
Amazon Basin (leopoldi & eimekei group)
Rio Negro region (leopoldi & scalare)

and other unique & fascinating forms (some which may still be undescribed!) from the Rio Purus region, Rio Jutai & Nanay, Rio Purite & Rio Apaporis, Lago Tefe, Rio Demini & Rio Aripuana as well as the angelfish of the Guianas.

Here are some images for you all to see:

You can see these images in closer detail here

For anyone interested in understanding the correct identification, biotope & habitat and distribution of wild angelfish, this is an amazing book. And also part 4 of 4 (book 01 contains detailed information on P. altum & Book 03 contains biotope for P.altum also)

We are the exclusive U.K. distributors of these books and so if anyone wishes to purchase them we have them available in limited numbers for just £27 (includes delivery).
