Platinum marbles Empty Platinum marbles

Post  gibbo156 Sat 25 May 2013, 20:54

I have some more youngsters available, a bit smaller this time.
Dad is "Big Bloomin" :- Gm/+, s/z, Sm/+, pb/pb (smokey blue marble)
Mum is "Miss Haversham" :- g/g, s/z, pb/pb (platinum)

The youngsters showing a Gold Marble gene don't fit into my plans, so i am giving them away.
There is at least one Paraiba showing a Gm gene.

I will be keeping the blue smokies, zebras and clowns , and the paraibas that don't show any marbling.
Watch this space in a couple of months because i don't have room to keep them all.

It wasn't a big spawn, but there are a few available.
They were free swimming on 6th April and are now bigger than 5p body size.
Bring a bag and grab some fish.
Send me a private message to get the address and arrange a date and time.
OX15 post code.

here are some pics of the platinum marbles ( taken on 16th May)

ALSO
Coming soon, free swimming on 13th May
Dad is "Gabriel":- s/+, v/+ ( i have been offered money for this fish several times,,, don't bother he is staying with me! )
Mum is "Miss Haversham" :- g/g, s/z, pb/pb (platinum) ( and she is staying here as well )

No idea what they are going to look like yet, they are still too small, but they are eating microworm and decaps as fast as i can supply them. Give it a month or so and i will be posting them on here.

They aren't part of my breeding plan, but Gabriel was busting with testosterone, so i let him have his legover with miss Haversham in the breeding tank. I just had to do it, he has been pestering the life out of all of the sub-adult females in the display tank and he kept looking at me as if to say " Come on gibbo, you're a bloke, you understand, go on , just once, please,,,, " and then he would lose out to one of the other males in the tank and never actually got the girl. The Financial Director was beginning to suspect that he was gay, so i gave him a turn in the breeding tank to see if he will now calm down a bit, and to prove to the Financial Director that Gabriel is all bloke.

Will i get hung by the PC Police now ? ?

Some blushing veils, het for gold and pb sound very interesting. Hopefully I should have the fish house partly up and running in a few months time, we can chat later. Wink

What a generous breeder in more ways than one. Offering up free unwanted fish and for letting Gabriel get his leg over. cheers

Just out of curiosity. The fish that I had from you on the last clearance, were they from the same pairing of "Big Bloomin" and "Miss Haversham"? I've been looking at some of the marbled paraibas and wondering if they are Gm/g making them marbled platinum paraibas. They seem to be whiter in the body suggesting Gm/g but some are also showing black edges on the dorsal and anal fins suggesting possibly Gm/+. I though it would be logical that once a fish goes plat this black edging would not be expressed.

I think I just answered my own question above and have had a quick chat about it with Rob in the past, so I guess it's not the same pairing.

Correct, that was a different pairing.
( Dad was Gm/+, s/+, pb/pb and mum was g/+, s/+, pb/pb affectionately known as Mr & Mrs Blue)
And yes you will probably have some that are Gm/+ or Gm/g
I still have trouble telling the difference between Gm/+ and G/M, i only know the difference when i see the offspring, and even then it has to be a big enough spawn so that i am sure i have got all of the possible combinations.

I have some from that same paring that i kept. They have recently started spawning in the display tank.
Two of them might be looking for a home soon........

Hurry up with the fish house.
You can have the whole spawn if you would like.
I only bred them as a favour to Gabriel.

Very generous Gibbo but I can only proceed as fast as funds alllow. But I do have a time frame in place.

Friday 14th June. Order insulation and ply.

Friday 5th July. Order first lot of tanks. 3 x 24x15x12's and 4 x 36x15x12's.

That will be nice timing
The "Sons and Daughters of Gabriel" will be old enough to travel by then.

I wouldn't be able to accommodate the entire spawn anyway. Laughing

Don't worry, only 25% of that batch will be veils and i can't imagine that i won't want to keep some of them.
Looking at the babies, there aren't as many that look blushing as i was expecting, but maybe more will show later.
